How to stay with us

  • 1. Online Reservation

    Make a reservation via this website. We accept reservations up to 3 days in advance.
  • 2. Check-in

    The check-in counter is located within our main office, Hishiya. Park your car in front of Hishiya and check in.
  • 3. Head to the home.

    Take your key and head towards your home. As you move throughout Kumagawa-juku, which is designated as a special preservation district, notice the unique design of the buildings.
  • 4. Meals

    Breakfast: Breakfast is available for each day of your stay.

    Lunch: Lunch is not available through Yao-Kumagawa hotels. However, there are many restaurants within Kumagawa-juku that are open for lunch.

    *However, we have our Old-style Japanese lunch experience, which you can find more about here:
    Dinner: Dinner is available for each day of your stay.

    For those who choose no meal plan, feel free to buy local ingredients and cook them within the comfort of your own personal home. Each home has a kitchen fully stocked with table and glassware, utensils, and everything else you need to prepare a delicious dinner.
  • 5. Checkout

    Checkout is at 11 a.m. Come to Hishiya and return your key.

    From Kanto/Shizuoka/Nagoya

    From Maibara city, take the Hokuriku Expressway towards Fukui prefecture.
    Get onto Route 303 from the Kinomoto tollgate.
    Follow Route 303 until you get to Kumagawa-juku.
    About 1 hour and 10 minutes from Maibara city.

    From Osaka/Kyoto

    From Kyoto station, go north on Route 367 via Kawabata Street.
    Turn left on Route 303. Head straight to Kumagawa-juku.
    About 1 hour and 30 minutes from Kyoto Station.
    *If you are using a rental car, it is most convenient from Kyoto Station or Tsuruga city.

    From Tokyo

    Take the shinkansen to Kyoto station. Get on the Kosei line to Omi-Imazu Station.
    From Omi-Imazu Station, take the Wakae bus bound for Obama city.
    Get off at the Wakasa-Kumagawa bus stop.
    About 3 hours and 30 minutes by train and 30 minutes by bus.

    From Osaka

    Take the JR Tokaido Sanyo Main Special Rapid train bound for Tsuruga. Get off at Omi-Imazu station.
    Take the Wakae bus bound for Obama.
    Get off at the Wakasa-Kumagawa bus stop.
    About 1 hour and 20 minutes by train and 30 minutes by bus.
